SUE's VOLUNTEER STORY

"Our communities have many areas of concern for which any of us can volunteer our time. Since retirement, I still have a full calendar with family, church, friends and other activities. My volunteer time is limited, so I am very selective about where and when I give my personal time to others. Not only do I look for where I can best use my talents, but I look for places of service where I feel I can make a difference with what time I can give. Mary's Shelter is that place for me. I have often heard the famous quote from Winston Churchill, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." At Mary's Shelter, I receive satisfaction that I can apply my skills, talents and interests to the lives of young women who are striving for a successful, independent life style."
